of design submissions. The ideal candidate will bring
expert-level knowledge of OSP standards
, customer quality control metrics, and field-based validations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct
quality assurance reviews
of OSP design packages across aerial, underground, and buried cable infrastructure. - Validate that all designs reflect
cost-effective and constructible solutions
aligned with the client's scope of work. - Confirm accuracy of existing facility locations using customer data, municipal records, and real-world field conditions.
- Ensure all required
fiber technologies and configurations
—including Overbuild, LightGig, and FTTH—are accurately represented. - Identify and flag missing or incorrect design data; propose actionable resolutions.
- Communicate design issues and quality concerns with engineers and project managers for swift resolution.
- Approve finalized design packages prior to client submission.
- Evaluate and verify that the current design approach is the
most effective and efficient
available. - Enforce compliance with customer specifications, engineering standards, and OSP design best practices.
- Manage the end-to-end
quality control process
to produce streamlined, build-ready, value-engineered designs.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years
of hands-on experience in OSP Design Engineering. - 3+ years
conducting quality control reviews on OSP design packages. - Strong understanding of
OSP cable placement
methods (aerial, underground, buried) and conduit design. - Experience with
fiber architecture
, including fiber backbone (F1), distribution networks (F2), and Corning FlexNap systems. - Familiarity with
client design and build systems

A Senior Telecommunications Design Engineer is responsible for leading all phases of telecom designs, including leading the client, understanding the client's standards, developing drawings, specifications, and bill of materials, and assisting project managers and principals on the project. This person is required to be forward-thinking and can create solutions to design and construction changes as needed. These designs include data/voice/video cabling systems and infrastructures, networks, wireless systems, voice communications, overhead paging, security access control, video surveillance, audio-visual, and other specialty systems.

- Maintain relationships with clients and serve as one of the clients' primary point of contact. Define clear communication channels and provide regular project updates, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of progress, changes, or delays.

- Oversee construction phases and conduct periodic site visits to ensure contractors adhere to design intent, specifications, quality, and objectives while answering RFI's to resolve coordination and construction issues.
- Lead, develop, and manage punch lists for each system; support the development of transition and move plans; support final commissioning of systems and end-user training while tracking and managing close-out activities and documentation.
- Attend professional developmental seminars and conferences to stay abreast of industry changes and advances.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Lead Designer, with a proven track record of leading design meetings, developing telecom system designs, writing specifications, creating bills of materials, reviewing submittals and test reports, and providing construction administration support.
- At least 10 years of professional experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
