Security Officer Job Description

Security officers perform various functions to keep company property and environment safe and crime free.

The duties, tasks, and responsibilities commonly performed by officers in charge of security in are below:

• Protect and/or watch over company assets and spaces
• Watch security cameras to detect any form of suspicious activity within the environment
• Set alarm to provide alert in case there is any form of disturbance or emergency within the environment
• Sound alarm or place necessary calls to the appropriate authorities (police or fire service) in case of any emergency
• Secure spaces and ensure the safety of those within company environment
• Control and supervise the entrance of both individuals and vehicles in the office area
• Capture and detain offenders in case further investigation is required
• Warn people of consequences of breaking certain rules like loitering and trespassing
• Monitor the exit of all employees to avoid theft of company properties
• Maintain written logs
• Provide assistance to both employees and company customers in a friendly and polite manner
• Carry out investigations and prepare reports on incidents or any form of suspicious activity that takes/took place.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Functions as a member of the Security Department Leadership Team participating in the department wide development and implementation of plans, programs, training and metrics consistent with the corporate strategic plan. With supporting role in Traffic Management and Motorist Assistance
2. Assist the Department Head in the preparation and administration of the annual department budget
3. Responsible for implementing the security provisions of R.A. 2000 or the Limited Access Act and other laws under the Revised Penal Code.
4. Continuously improve security systems through effective processes and in writing, developing and updating security measures, policies and SOPs to comply with local and national regulations.
5. Provides protection to employees, customers and company properties and monitor all activities for unauthorized removal of properties, including carriageway fences.
6. Conducts investigation of criminal and security incidents. Identifies immediate and possible threats and submits appropriate reports and recommendations to line management.
7. Coordinates with Toll and Traffic groups on the installation of access control, devices, intruder detection and alarm systems, surveillance cameras, recorders, fencing, bomb detections and other systems to ensure adherence to security.
8. Provides immediate response to any criminal or security incident or other emergency, which may pose risk to company personnel, assets and motorists or be otherwise detrimental to company interests, and make appropriate notifications, and issue directions to bring the situation under control until relieved by a higher authority.
9. Prepares, reviews and analyzes detailed reports on incidents and provide recommendations for improvement on security controls and process. Reports are subject to routing for a range of internal stakeholders.
10. Liaises with local authorities such as the police, fire and civil defense authorities and multilateral organizations.
11. Provides security protection for cash control as and when the need arises
12. Executes emergency response and BCP plans when required
13. Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

1. Bachelor of Science in Criminology preferred

Experience:

1. With prior work related experience of at least five (5) solid years.
2. Has work experience in managing a security detachment of not less than one hundred (100) security personnel.
3. Experience of working in conflict situations.
4. Emergency response experience.

Licenses (if applicable):

• Criminology Board Passer preferred, but solid years of work experience can suffice
• Certified Security Professional preffered, or other related / equivalent certifications

• With valid driver's license (can drive manual 4-wheel vehicle)
• Shifting schedule (24/7)

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring and Surveillance: Observe and monitor surveillance systems, inspect buildings, equipment, and access points to prevent unauthorized entry and ensure safety.
• Patrolling: Conduct regular patrols of the premises to detect signs of intrusion, theft, or any unusual activity.
• Access Control: Authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of the premises.
• Incident Response: Respond to emergencies, provide assistance, and investigate incidents such as theft, vandalism, or accidents.
• Reporting: Write detailed reports of daily activities and any irregularities, including property damage or unauthorized presence.
• Equipment Inspection: Operate and inspect security systems and equipment to ensure they are functioning properly and detect any tampering.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to clients, visitors, and employees, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required; additional education or certifications in security or law enforcement may be preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in security or a related field is advantageous.
• Skills: Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently. Good communication skills are essential for reporting incidents and interacting with the public.

• Assists the operations head in the implementation of company policies and coordinate with the company officers. Report any violations of such.
• Provides daily security advisories to the operations officers and security head
• Assists the investigator in gathering evidence and witnesses in the event of unusual incident
• Liaises with LGU and PNP unit in case of fire, disorder and burglary
• Conducts site inspection to ensure security and safety of the entire premises
• Conducts audit to ensure the operational preparedness of the respective plantilla
• Responsible for the discipline and work performance of all security guards posted in AOR. Initiates evaluation and issues disciplinary action for any misdemeanor
• Inform the operations officer, PE/SE for any incident/accident that occurs in AOR involving security and safety in.
• Conducts initial investigation, prepares and submits reports for such.
• Maintains and submits weekly activity report, weekly activity plan and incident report (spot, progress and final report)
• Performs other tasks that the company officers may direct

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Criminology or equivalent courses;
• Relevant working experience specializing in security services is REQUIRED;
• Knowledge in developing and enforcing security rules and policies;
• Can handle monitoring and supervision of sites' security guards and operations;
• Accepts on-call duties to respond to security incidents on sites;
• Proficient in Microsoft office or Google Sheet;
• With driver's license and knows how to drive motorcycle

Work Arrangement

• Willing to conduct daily site visitation in any of our project locations in Laguna/Cavite
• 6-days work week
