- Perform the quality test on soil and soil aggregates.
- Perform the quality test on course and fine aggregates.
- Conduct Field Density test by sand cone method and non-nuclear SDG.
- Perform testing for fresh concrete, sampling, slump test, unit weight for yield of concrete.
- Conduct compression / flexural test for hardened concrete.
- Conduct testing for rebars, physical appearance, tensile and bending.
- Prepared worksheet for every test conducted.
- Finalized test reports after double checking by SLT, LIC or the technician itself.
- Responsible to transmit properly test reports or other documents to the client's QC/QA head / engineers.
- Responsible for the monthly physical inventory of Measuring & Testing Equipment (MTE)
and Calibration Schedule to be submitted to client's QA/QC head and XTSI main laboratory.
- Prepare Daily & Weekly accomplishment reports and submit to laboratory head / manager regularly every week.
- Responsible for the proper handling and maintenance of all laboratory equipment / apparatus in the laboratory.
- Responsible to report any damages or defective equipment to the laboratory head / manager with supporting incident report and MTE Evaluation report.
- Maintain 5S implementation in the whole laboratory.
- Perform such other function as may be assigned to you by the company's management.
- Continue study and learn other test procedures and specifications in ASTM, AASHTO and DPWH.

The Laboratory Technician supports road and bridge construction projects by conducting laboratory and field tests on construction materials such as soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and bituminous materials. The role ensures compliance with Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and other relevant standards to maintain the quality and integrity of infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform standardized laboratory and field tests on soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt as per DPWH, ASTM, or AASHTO standards.
- Conduct laboratory and field tests in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or relevant local standards.
- Collect samples from field locations in accordance with proper sampling protocols.
- Prepare and maintain test reports and documentation for project compliance.
- Assist engineers in verifying materials conformance to project specifications.
- Maintain calibration and cleanliness of laboratory equipment.
- Follow all safety and quality protocols within the lab and field environments.
- Report non-conforming materials and suggest corrective actions.
- Participate in internal and external audits by DPWH or other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Civil Engineering, Construction Materials, or related technical field.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a construction materials laboratory, preferably on roads and bridges projects.
- Knowledgeable in test methods specified by DPWH Blue Book, ASTM, AASHTO, or BS standards.
Familiarity with standard test methods such as:
Soil: Proctor, Atterberg limits, CBR
- Aggregate: Gradation, specific gravity, Los Angeles abrasion
- Concrete: Slump test, compressive strength, air content
- Asphalt: Marshall stability, bitumen content, density tests
- Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures in civil infrastructure projects.
- Ability to work under pressure and in outdoor environments.
- Physically fit and capable of performing field work.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word).
- Ability to work on-site in various environmental conditions.
- Willingness to stay in company-provided staff housing at the project location in SLEX-TR4 (Batangas, Laguna and Quezon) participate in fieldwork as needed.
Preferred Certifications
- DPWH Accredited Laboratory Technician.
- TESDA NC II or NC III in Construction Materials Testing (if applicable)
- ACI Certification (optional but advantageous)
