Position Summary
The Geological Engineer / Mineral Exploration Engineer will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing mineral resources in line with the company's growth objectives. The role involves conducting field investigations, sampling, geological mapping, data analysis, and preparing technical reports and presentations. The engineer will design exploration strategies, optimize drilling/trenching programs, and provide investment recommendations based on findings. This position requires strong technical expertise in geology, practical field experience, proficiency in exploration software, and the ability to work in challenging environments while ensuring safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Search for and evaluate mineral vein resources that align with company development needs.
- Conduct fieldwork including geological mapping, site investigation, sampling, and sample analysis.
- Prepare detailed reports, maps, and presentations on exploration findings.
- Provide technical and investment recommendations based on exploration results.
- Oversee technical aspects of mining-related exploration activities.
- Ensure safety compliance and apply field survival/risk avoidance practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clearly communicate findings to management and stakeholders.
- Perform other exploration and technical tasks required for company development.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Mineral Exploration, Geochemistry, Geophysics, or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years field exploration experience, including geochemical sampling, logging, and mapping.
- Experience in core technical positions in research institutes, large state-owned enterprises, or foreign companies is highly preferred.
Registered Geologist / Exploration Engineer is an advantage.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
Strong foundation in mineralogy, petrology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and ore deposit geology.
- Knowledge of ore deposit models and exploration indicators (porphyry copper, skarn, hydrothermal gold, etc.).
- Skilled in geological mapping, geochemical/geophysical exploration, and remote sensing interpretation.
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS); familiarity with 3D mining software (Surpac, Micromine, Leapfrog) preferred.
3. Field & Safety
- Strong physical fitness and ability to work in remote field environments.
Knowledge of field safety, risk avoidance, and basic first aid.
Problem-Solving & Analysis
Ability to integrate field observations with theory for geological interpretation.
Capable of designing cost-effective exploration engineering layouts (drilling, trenching).
Soft Skills & Others
Strong teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
- Good command of English or Chinese for reporting and literature review.
- Familiarity with JORC / NI standards preferred.
