We are looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our Database Services Team. As a key member of our team, your goal is to provide the full range of Database Administrator services in a complex database environment and deliver excellent support for PostgreSQL and AWS (RDS/Aurora).

This role plays a vital part in ensuring that databases of the Cambridge University Press and Assessment Systems are properly managed, organized, and secured.
As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in providing Database Support and Administration such as Installation, Patching, Refresh, Backup and Recovery, Upgrade, Capacity Planning, Monitoring and Performance/SQL Tuning, Database User & Security Management.
You are also expected to engage on multi team efforts related to deployments, projects, and other application support. Your expertise will provide input into the improvement of services and processes and the mitigation of risks. And you are to Adhere to IT Service Management (ITSM) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards.
Willing to work on a shifting schedule (Mostly UK hours) & Wiling to do on-call support (Rotation Duty).
The following will help you be an ideal candidate for this post:
- Extensive experience in administrating PostgreSQL Database
- Adept in database backup and recovery and in capacity planning Proficient in database modelling and SQL.
- AWS Experience of managing database in one or more of the follows: (RDS, Aurora)
- Experienced in administrating Oracle and SQL Server Databases (Desirable)
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux; Experience in working on cloud-based infrastructure; Working knowledge on automation tools.
- Exposure to AWS architecture principles. (Desirable)
- Excellent communication skills, ability to articulate in both technical and business terms.

Reporting to the Information Communication & Technology Associate Director, the Database Administrator is responsible for the development of an integrated management information system for the company while ensuring data integrity and security of databases in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its implementing rules and regulation.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Allocates system storage and plans future storage requirements for the database system. Creates primary database storage structures after application developers have designed an application and modifies, as necessary, from information given by application developers.
· Provides user access to the databases while maintaining system security in accordance with the Data Privacy Act 2012 and its IRR and in accordance with the Agreement between CEM and client schools.
· Develops scoring system and printing programs for score reports according to the specifications provided by the test developers.
· Designs answer sheets that are compatible with the data collection software and scanner machines. Manages and maintains the answer sheet templates table and other databases.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems and Electronic and Communication Engineering.
· Atleast 2 years of application systems development experience and at least 1 year in the use of MS SQL management system as backend.
