THE CAREER OPPORTUNITY (MORE ABOUT THE ROLE)
Children International Inc. Manila will be implementing the Child and Youth Development Project over a period of twelve months in 2025 from 2 January 2025 to 31 December 2025. The primary focus of this project is to help build the self-confidence and mindset of the sponsored population through learning opportunities and strategies aligned to CIKC global program framework and budget.
The Program Field Officer – Child and Youth Development Project, (PFO-CYDP), is a project-based role, employed by CIM and will report to the Area Coordinator in a given Service Area.
Your primary accountability will be to facilitate delivery of non-formal learning sessions to the participants we serve as well as their caregivers; carry out interventions that address risks and challenges that children and youth face; and collaborate with internal agency staff, participants and their families as well as other external stakeholders within the framework of child safeguarding and CIM values.
For 2025, a specially assigned focus will be: promoting and measuring child and youth participation in CYDP activities, in accordance with Child Path.
The Area Coordinator could assign you to one or a combination of the different program categories being implemented within their Service Area namely, education, life skills, health, and into employment.
Other project responsibilities include but are not be limited to mobilizing children and youth and championing program participation; delivering and facilitating high-quality sessions; taking part in the monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities within the Service Area, helping resolve gaps and variances; nurturing relationships with all different stakeholders, mainly the participants but also including their families, volunteers, the schools, the barangay and the local government, etc.; assist the Area Coordinator in initiating and upholding a culture of continuous improvement; and ensuring that children and youth receive the support that they need at the right time, within the project plan.
Transformation is at the heart Child Path in 2025 and beyond; and this role has an important part to play in ensuring none of our children and youth misses the transformative path.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE
- Champion and promote CI programs, build the brand within the community
- Contribute to agency work planning and budgeting processes as needed.
- Ensure proper execution of assigned work and budgets and drive achievement of desired outcomes in line with program guidelines and modules aligned with the Agency goals and targets.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate resources (e.g., venue, logistics etc.) necessary for program execution with volunteers, internal agency teams (e.g., FMLSO, SR Officers), and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate and implement sessions in line with developed program guidelines, protocols, processes and standards.
- Support participant target planning and prioritization processes. Through connecting with family calls identify and address any program-related needs of participants. Plan for and address barriers to participation to ensure increased coverage.
- Promote program participation and engagement different methodologies like home visits, interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), messaging apps, and social media platforms.
- Track, analyze, and report on implementation challenges, plan and address any inconsistencies or gaps to ensure successful outcomes.
- Ensure proper budget requisition and liquidation.
- Carry out participant monitoring and other evaluation processes in accordance with Agency prescribed tools and guidelines.
- Facilitate coordination with partner local government units, schools and community organizations for resource complementation/ supplementation.
- Participate in and/or hold meetings with participants and volunteers to plan, prepare for and monitor progress of assigned programs.
- Attend or support other Agency initiated activities as and when needed including Economic Assistance Distribution/Gifts In Kind (GIK) as well as other sponsorship relations activities in the service area.
- Maintain consistency, reliability, timeliness, and quality of all gathered information, including attendance, participation records, budget execution, other curriculum delivery reports etc. to ensure data integrity.
- Regularly update and document progress and comply with timely submission of data and other reporting requirements.
- Recruit necessary volunteers to support program delivery and addressing any concerns that may arise. Manage various volunteer activities, such as organizing quarterly meetings, planning the annual volunteer's day, handling the monthly requisition of motivational funds, and coordinating other volunteer capacity-building activities.
- Ensure child safeguarding principles and practices are followed by self and others at all times. Recommend and request funds any sponsored child suffering from any form of grave risk or condition affection their health, wellbeing, safety and literacy from the Agency "
Safety Net Fund for extreme need" - Demonstrate behaviors aligned to CI values consistently.
- Model and promote a learning culture that addresses Agency challenges and demonstrates effective problem solving. Participate and contribute to learning and reflection sessions to share best practices, learnings.
- Actively seek continuous improvement initiatives and adapt quickly to change within a complex, ever-changing work environment.
- Enable seamless information flow, break down silos, and effectively collaborate across stakeholders within the agency as well as the community, maximizing collective impact for our children, youth, and families.
- Participate regularly in key stakeholder activities carried out in the community areas and elsewhere to observe, build alliances, engage, and solicit feedback with diverse stakeholders both internal (staff, and volunteers) as well external partners like government institutions, other NGOs etc.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KEY SKILLS:
- A graduate degree in the relevant field of study.
- At least 2 years in a similar role working with and leading a team of volunteers and other community stakeholders is preferred and/or implementing programs for children, youth and families. Familiarity and recent experience working with the community where the project is, would be an added advantage.
- Great facilitation skills, with proven ability to effectively engage a group producing more compelling program participation.
- Strong organizational skills; with experience in data tracking, review, and record management.
- Above average computer skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications; specifically, a good working knowledge of excel for administrative purposes and experience in digital learning platforms is an advantage.
- Possess good interpersonal skills with the proven ability to deal tactfully, manage conflict and build effective relationships with people across levels, both internally and externally.
- Attention to detail with the proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, problem solve and suggest improvements.
- Time management and planning skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities smoothly.
- Learning mentality characterized by listening, humility, and openness/courage to change.
- Self-motivated and proactive with a high level of compassion, empathy, integrity and passion to work on complex social causes, especially the cause of children and youth.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT
- Willingness to travel around to assigned communities, depending on the number and geographic spread.
