Job Description
- Minimum 5 years related experience working with Power Utilities, Substations, Solar Plant and or Transmission Lines.
- Extensive experience in electrical networks and substations at 69 kV level and above. This includes both overhead and underground networks and interconnection Facilities.
- Strong knowledge of substation high voltage plant and equipment including LV equipment, Switchyard, Busbar configurations.
- Strong knowledge of AIS/GIS Substation busbar configuration and layouts and protection
- Knowledge of relevant Philippines and International standards and codes, industry guidelines and current industry practices.
- Experience and knowledge in the Low Voltage equipment within the substation, SCADA, Secondary equipment protections, LV to HV interface.
- Has knowledge in all the Testing and Commissioning for High Voltage equipments within the Substation and Interconnection Facilities
- Experience with NGCP protocols and requirements is an advantage.

Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Substation Engineer to support the planning, design, and execution of substation engineering and construction projects. The ideal candidate must be proficient in the preparation of electrical designs, construction drawings, and project documentation related to substation systems from 13.8 kV up to 500 kV, and must have a solid understanding of local electrical codes and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review engineering designs, electrical schematics, single line diagrams, protection and control schemes for substation projects.
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOMs), equipment specifications, and scope of work for procurement and construction.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, and mechanical engineers to ensure design integrity and constructability.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment including transformers, switchgears, protection relays, CTs/VTs, and SCADA systems.
- Ensure designs comply with Philippine Electrical Code, NGCP/DOE/ERC standards, and other regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with Distribution Utilities (DU), NGCP, and other stakeholders for permits, approvals, and grid connection.
- Provide technical support during site inspections and construction, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and project schedules.
- Prepare and maintain as-built drawings, technical reports, and project documentation.
- Assist in project budgeting, risk assessment, and progress reporting.
- Provide related technical support services that may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Licensed Registered Electrical Engineer required; Professional Electrical Engineer is an advantage).
- At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in substation design, construction, or related field.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or similar electrical design software.
- Familiar with NGCP, Meralco, or other DU grid interconnection processes and standards.
- Strong understanding of HV and MV power systems, grounding, protection systems, and switchgear.
- Preferably have prior experience with solar PV or renewable energy-related substation projects.
- Experience in SCADA, relay protection, and transformer installation is a plus.
- Willing to travel to project sites as needed.
