What you do as a Junior Site Inspector – Dredging and Reclamation Works
The junior site inspector will be reporting to the Engineer's Representative at site, the Inspector will sail on the trailing suction hopper dredger (vessel) undertaking the dredging works at the borrow area and transporting the sand to the reclamation site. The general tasks and responsibilities will include amongst others:
- Inspect and monitor the quantity and quality of the sand dredged and the safety of the dredging and reclamation works undertaken by the trailing suction hopper dredger
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and regulations, such as ACI, ASTM, and OSHA
- Review and verify the accuracy of works according to drawings, plans, and reports
- Coordinate and communicate with the contractors, engineers, and clients, to resolve any issues or discrepancies
- Identify and report any defects, damages, or deviations from the project requirements
- Recommend and implement corrective actions and preventive measures
- Document and maintain records of inspection activities and results, using forms, checklists, photos, and software
