Job description:

1.1 Conducts the daily endorsement.

1.2 Conducts rounds with the nursing staff on all patients in the area of the unit at least twice (at the end of endorsement and before the end of the shift).

1.3 Performs electrocardiogram (ECG)

1.4 Ensures that the cardiac monitor is operative.

1.5 Partake in changing nebulization every time and when needed

1.6 Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements

1.7 Participates in the transfer of equipment and supplies to and from other Cardiopulmonary Departments as necessary

1.8 Initiates and monitors Mechanical Ventilator support including equipment monitoring

1.9 Ensures doctors order are carried out

1.10 Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and education of patients with cardiopulmonary impairment as directed by the physician.

1.11 Evaluate effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress

1.12 Assists in follow-up the results of all laboratories and diagnostic procedures.

1.13 Checks the unit and patients rooms for equipment and safety issues.

1.14 Communicates with the Resident Physician in terms of referral and relaying ancillary procedures.

QUALIFICATION

1.1 Passed the Respiratory Therapist Board Examination in Professional Regulation Commission.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Respiratory Therapists assist in implementing high-quality respiratory care and provide specialized treatment in the most effective and efficient manner.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

• Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy

• Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist

• Preferably with at least 6 months to 1 year work experience as Respiratory Therapist

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Properly hook up ventilators to patients, ensuring safe and accurate connections in accordance with medical protocols.
• Enforce safety rules and adhere to physicians' orders for the operation of mechanical ventilators, ensuring patient safety and equipment efficiency at all times.
• Prepare endorsement sheets for the next shift, providing a detailed record of ventilator usage, maintenance, and any issues encountered.
• Report defective equipment or any operational concerns through service reports, ensuring timely repairs and maintenance in line with company protocols.
• Prepare monthly census reports on ventilator usage, patient support, and any equipment-related issues or concerns, providing essential data to management and hospital staff.
• Collaborate with hospital management and medical teams to ensure ventilator readiness and address any operational or technical issues promptly.
