Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Respiratory Therapist at Skyline Hospital and Medical Center located in Bulacan. The Respiratory Therapist (RT) assesses, treats, and manages patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders. RTs work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide effective respiratory care to patients of all ages—from newborns to the elderly. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic tests, operating respiratory equipment, administering treatments, and educating patients and families about respiratory health.

Key Responsibilities:

-Assess patients' respiratory conditions and develop individualized care plans

-Administer respiratory therapy treatments and medications as prescribed.

-Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators and oxygen delivery systems.

-Monitor and evaluate patients' responses to treatment and adjust care as needed.

-Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and pulmonary function tests.

-Provide emergency respiratory care in critical situations.

-Educate patients and families about disease management and proper use of respiratory equipment.

-Document patient care, observations, and treatment outcomes accurately.

-Follow established protocols and safety guidelines

Qualifications:

-Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy.

-Valid license or certification as a Respiratory Therapist.

-Strong clinical knowledge and ability to operate respiratory therapy equipment.

-Effective communication and patient care skills.

-Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative healthcare environment.

-Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols

Work Environment:

-Hospital, emergency room, intensive care unit (ICU), outpatient clinics, and other healthcare settings.

-May require working varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Respiratory Therapist Job Responsibilities:

• Restores patient's pulmonary function, alleviates pain, and supports life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy.
• Meets patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests, assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, and determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
• Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and supports life by administering inhalants, operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
• Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with breathing exercises, and monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
• Directs treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
• Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress and recommending adjustments and modifications.
• Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
• Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
• Recommends and/or provides assistive equipment and outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Respiratory Therapist Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree with major in Respiratory Therapy
• Six months of experience within in the last two years or completion of a clinical rotation within the last year in critical care/intensive care environment, to include care of respiratory needs of acutely ill patients
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (must obtain within 3 months of hire)
• Certified Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
