The Research Specialist (Enterprise) provides support to our Public Records division. They are responsible on a daily basis for researching the criminal backgrounds that are requested by our clients. They will build relationships with the court and county clerks, Department of Corrections, Department of Probation and district attorney's offices in order to obtain the proper background information. This is a vital role within Cisive and a pivotal role for our clients as the information we obtain allows our clients to make the best hiring decisions.
The Research Specialist (Healthcare) conducts searches of public records on behalf of PreCheck clients using the Internet, online databases, vendors, and other resources. Interprets and reports information in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), state and federal law, and PreCheck guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Enterprise:
- Review and analyze documentation provided by vendors
- Gauge the estimated time of completion for a criminal record investigation
- Ability to learn and apply the state and federal FCRA rules to meet client specifications
- Contact external parties to inquire or request court information or request additional information
- Input related notes into the system for review and approval by leadership
- Conduct necessary research to obtain documents related to individual cases
Healthcare:
- Researches online records and databases for criminal and civil records.
- Contacts vendors using fax, phone, mail or email to order criminal and civil background checks.
- Uses time-management skills to handle a large volume of pending requests and returned records.
- Reviews returned records for convictions and follows the FCRA, state and federal laws, and PreCheck guidelines to determine whether or not those convictions are reportable.
- Contacts clerks and other court personnel for clarification on records.
- Works closely with the Client Services Department to interpret and explain reportable records.
- Monitors all queues to ensure all requests are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with PreCheck guidelines. Follows up on pending orders with vendors.
- Deciphers and enters returned results into PreCheck module.
- Works closely with and supports other Public Records Investigators to ensure all client needs are met.

Requirements:
- Graduate of any 2-year or 4-year course, preferred; or has at least completed 2 years of college
- Criminal Justice degree preferred but not required
- Similar experience within the background industry preferred
- Prior internships or 1-3 years' prior work experience within a law firm, court system, county/state police or sheriff's department preferred
- Knowledge of court dockets and the ability to understand legal terminology preferred
- Experience reading and interpreting court documents preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to navigate the internet for research activities

- The Chart Research Specialist is responsible for review of medical records for the necessary documents for proper indexing.
Essential Functions And Tasks
- Ensures medical records are complete within the electronic medical records system by identifying and obtaining any missing chart information including signatures from physicians and other pertinent personnel
