JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified Project Material Engineer to oversee material selection, testing, quality control, and procurement for construction and expansion projects. The successful candidate will ensure that all materials used in construction projects meet specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements while optimizing cost-effectiveness and project timelines in compliance with Philippine construction standards and DPWH guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Material Selection & Specification
- Evaluate and select appropriate construction materials based on project requirements and specifications
- Develop material specifications and standards for various construction elements
- Research new materials and technologies to improve project performance and cost-effectiveness
- Collaborate with design engineers to optimize material choices for structural integrity and durability
- Conduct feasibility studies on alternative materials and construction methods
Quality Control & Testing
- Develop and implement material testing protocols and quality assurance procedures
- Oversee laboratory and field testing of construction materials (concrete, steel, aggregates, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with Philippine National Standards (PNS)
- Monitor material quality throughout the construction process
- Document test results and maintain comprehensive quality control records
- Coordinate with third-party testing laboratories and certification bodies
Material Procurement & Management
- Prepare material procurement plans and schedules aligned with project timelines
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and maintain approved vendor lists
- Review and approve material submittals from contractors and suppliers
- Monitor material deliveries and coordinate with logistics teams
- Manage material inventory and storage requirements on construction sites
- Optimize procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective material sourcing
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all materials comply with Philippine building codes
- Maintain detailed material documentation and traceability records
- Prepare material certificates and compliance reports for regulatory submissions
- Support project handover documentation and as-built material specifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree and Licensed Professional Civil Engineer certification.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in materials engineering within the construction industry
- Proven experience in material testing, quality control, and procurement processes
- Experience with Warehousing (Cold or Dry) Projects
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, or other construction design software
- Familiarity with cost estimation and budget management tools
- Understanding of Philippine construction industry standards and practices
- Willing to be assigned in Plaridel, Bulacan, or relocate to active construction project sites as needed
