Job Description

Opportunity for Senior Power Generation Engineer

WEnergy Global Pte Ltd, jointly with its consortium partners Maharlika Clean Power Holdings Corp. and CleanGrid Partners Pte Ltd, are at the forefront of delivering hybrid microgrid solutions to off-grid, unserved and underserved communities across the Philippines. WEnergy Global, a pioneer and leader in world class, renewable energy solutions and smart, sustainable microgrids, combines deep local knowledge with international expertise to provide clean, reliable, and affordable electricity in some of the most geographically challenging areas of the country.

The above partnership, also named the 'Maharlika Consortium', specializes in the end-to-end development and operation of hybrid microgrids, combining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and diesel generators with smart power grid technologies. These systems are tailored to the specific needs of island and rural communities — many of which do not have access to electricity. From design and engineering to construction, financing, and long-term operation and maintenance, the Maharlika Consortium delivers resilient, high-performing powerplants.

Archipelago Renewables Corporation (ARC), a Joint Venture Company of the Maharlika Consortium, has an opportunity for a talented Senior Power Generation Engineer to join our team in Brgy. Cabayugan, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The vital role involves overseeing the operation and maintenance (O&M) activities of 24 upcoming hybrid microgrid powerplants to be constructed and operated across Palawan, Cebu, and Quezon, in addition to the currently operating hybrid microgrid in Sabang.

The selected candidate will be part of a dedicated technical team reporting directly to the General Manager and will work closely with the Plant Officers assigned across the microgrid locations. As a Senior Power Generation Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing the performance, maintenance, and operational integrity of the generation assets—including solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and diesel generators—across all sites. The role requires close coordination with field teams to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe operation of power generation systems, as well as swift technical response to equipment issues or system faults. A proactive approach, strong diagnostic skills, and commitment to continuous improvement are essential to uphold the quality and resilience of power supply to the communities served.

The successful candidate must be willing to provide on-call support and be able to return to site promptly while on standby, in response to operational needs or emergencies, to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Flexibility, rapid deployment capability, and a strong sense of responsibility are essential, as these microgrids serve as lifelines for the communities they power.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate – as member of a team - will contribute to:

Microgrid Powerplant Construction Phase (Initial 6 – 9 months)

  • Construction Oversight: as a team member to the daily construction activities, including civil and electrical works ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, timelines, safety protocol, and environmental regulations. Support in monitoring contractor performance and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Quality and Compliance: Co-conduct site inspections to ensure both civil and electrical construction activities, as well as material quantity and quality testing meet project standards and specifications.
  • Issue Resolution: Promptly address design and construction issues, implement proactive corrective actions, and document scope changes.
  • Safety and Environmental Trainings: Enforce safety and environmental protocols and conduct necessary audits as per OHSA, DENR and LGU standards.
  • Team Coordination: Facilitate communication and collaboration among teams to ensure alignment and achieve project objectives.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed and accurate updates to the Project Manager on construction progress, site issues, risks, and any deviations from project plans and designs. Maintain comprehensive records of site activities, inspections, and project changes.

Operation and Maintenance (O&M)

  • Performance Monitoring and System Optimization: Monitor and assess the performance of the solar PV panels, inverters, battery energy storage system, diesel generators and other critical components through energy yield reports, equipment logs and performance testing. Analyze key plant data—such as solar irradiance, performance ratio, battery cycling trends, fuel consumption, and inverter efficiency—to identify inefficiencies and optimize overall system performance.
  • Maintenance Planning and Coordination: Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, coordinate manpower deployment, tools, and spares across sites. Work closely with the central operations team on inspections, repairs, and inventory tracking, and provide on-site support when required. Conduct hands-on training for local teams on key tasks such as electrical testing, generator maintenance, and emergency shutdown procedures to build technical self-reliance.
  • Inventory and Resource Management: Plan, coordinate and oversee budget requests, tools, spare parts, and equipment inventories across all sites, ensuring timely procurement to prevent operational disruptions, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high system performance and reliability.
  • Critical On-Site and Emergency Support: Work closely with power grid engineers to manage and supervise critical maintenance activities. Provide remote supervision and technical support to plant officers during high-priority maintenance tasks, and implement emergency response strategies—such as troubleshooting faults, diagnosing abnormal electrical behavior, and resolving generator auto-start failures—to ensure continuous 24/7 electricity supply to consumers. Be available for short-term on-site assignments to provide direct support and address urgent operational requirements.
  • Environmental, Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Enforce environmental and safety standards by conducting and submitting risk assessments, compliance reports, and regulatory documentation. Ensure full adherence to regulations set by the DENR, DOE, ERC, NPC and LGUs, and maintain audit-ready records to support ongoing compliance. Track, update, and maintain all required licenses and permits to ensure uninterrupted operations and regulatory readiness.
