Job Summary
Undertakes the actual blood extraction in the office of field (MBD).
Provides donor care before, during and after blood extraction.
ensures that the donor is comfortable;
- observes for donor reaction during and after blood donation and applies immediate measures in cases of untoward reactions including referral to the medial officer, when necessary;
- applies aseptic technique procedures in blood extraction;
- ensures fluids are given during post-donation;
gives advice to donors on what to do during and after blood donation.
For office bleeding, prepares the collected blood for pre-storage (gets sample, seals and stores blood.)
For office bleeding, prepares the necessary equipment and supplies such as blood bags, test tubes, blood labels, samples for malaria screening, etc.
For mass blood donations, ensures availability of consumables such as cotton balls, donor's card, blood labels, plasters, gauze and linen, not only for their own but for use by other members of the team.
Maintains the upkeep, cleanliness and safety of the bleeding room, canteen and linen room including equipment and appliances.
Prepares report on blood collection in the office or MBD, according to blood type, amount and bag used.
Gives orientation and training to MT interns, volunteers and Red Cross Staff with regards to training on Phlebotomy procedures and donor care.
When necessary, comprises medical team during conventions, trainings, seminars, etc., subject to approval of the superiors.
When necessary, provides nursing care to Philippine Red Cross employees and outpatients.
Qualification:
- Must be a Registered Nurse or Registered Medical Technologist
- With or without work experience, fresh board passers are encouraged to apply
