About The Role
The Global Trade Compliance team, within Global Supply Chain, manages operational processes and controls to ensure S.C. Johnson's compliance with the legal responsibilities of international trade.
The Sr. Analyst, Global Trade Compliance role for APAC reports to the APAC Global Trade Compliance Manager and will provide compliance expertise to project managers, RD&E, Transportation, freight forwarders, and other internal members of the organization. The position will also engage with Customs brokers, other trade colleagues, and external partners to drive trade compliance policy and compliance adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the General Rules of Interpretation and classify products, materials, components, and other goods; Substantiate classification logic and maintain classifications in ERP system and databases
- Audit quantity and value of imported merchandise—including assist value, intercompany markup, and royalty—to ensure accuracy of Customs' declarations
- Conduct post-entry and weekly-entry auditing to ensure accuracy, driving any corrective action as required
- Substantiate and complete tariff-preference claims, understanding product-specific rules of origin and origin procedures
- Support compliance recordkeeping requirements
- Respond timely to compliance inquiries submitted from internal and external partners, escalating to the Global Trade Compliance manager when appropriate
- Manage importer and exporter's renewal registration with Customs government agencies
- Monitor and advise cross-functional team, Logistics team and brokers on export/import compliance practices in the region.
- Proactively communicate and update SOPs on a regular basis with the import brokers/freight forwarders and participate in broker's bidding.
- Support compliance trainings, operating procedures, and communications
- Attend project meetings, advising on compliance practices, policies, and considerations
- Monitor trade news, and regulation updates to keep the organization informed and prepared
Required Experience You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Supply chain, Logistics
- Minimum of 2 years of trade compliance or supply-chain experience
- Proficiency analyzing information relative to compliance goals and objectives
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in planning, implementing, monitoring, and completing compliance processes and controls with effective communication
