WHAT IS A/AN FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT?

The Financial Accountant is responsible for:

  • Ensure selected balance sheet reconciliations are performed in a timely manner and that all reconciling items are addressed within 1 month end cycle.

  • Liaising with Procurement, Logistics and Inventory team to understand movement in Inventory and associated on-cost accounts.
  • Preparation of year-end calculations as part of statutory requirements, including liaising with external auditors and attending to relevant audit requests.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial team to monitor budgets and forecasts for business cost centres.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls within the financial accounting function. Identify and mitigate financial risks, implement best practices, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

B. Auditing

  • Ensuring financial records are a fair and accurate representation of the transactions they claim to represent.
  • Identifying process improvements and implementing changes to increase efficiency.

C. Business analysis

  • Identifying and articulating the need for change and facilitating those changes that will be most beneficial to the Company's stakeholders.

Profile Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1.5 years of relevant financial reporting work experience.
  • Experience gained within a professional services environment, ideally within audit.
  • Consulting or industry experience, particularly working alongside ASX-listed clients.
  • Experience in direct client management and service delivery.

Core responsibilities:

  • Financial Accounting & Reporting:
  • Prepare timely and accurate month-end accounts, including detailed balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, profit and loss (P&L) analysis, and cash flow statements.
  • Produce financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) reporting obligations, including the preparation of 4C/5B, 4D, and 4E reports.
  • Manage the preparation and lodgment of various tax returns, including payroll tax returns, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns, and Business Activity Statements (BAS).
  • Assist with the resolution of technical accounting issues, providing sound and practical advice.
  • Support clients through the external audit process, ensuring the provision of necessary information and addressing auditor queries.
  • Process Improvement & Systems:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within client finance functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with the implementation of new accounting systems and processes, ensuring smooth transitions and effective user training.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Act as a key point of contact for client accounting and financial matters.
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Effectively manage client expectations and deliver high-quality service.
