Job Description

The Business Intelligence Specialist, part of the Global Sales Operations team is responsible for improving the effectiveness of the Clinical Solutions Sales organization by delivering actionable sales insights and reporting to frontline sales reps, sales leaders and senior management. The ideal candidate will be someone who can combine strong data analysis & and technical skills with a keen business understanding while possessing a high level of curiosity that drives them to transform data into actional business insights. They will be someone who instinctively looks at a process or business problem, disassembles it and looks for ways in which it can be improved or solved.

+ Collaborate with other analysts, data governance experts and technical experts within the team as well as in the broader Elsevier Data & Analytics community to share best practices
Accountabilities:
+ Provide insights on the business about how to meet/overachieve business expectations through in-depth business knowledge and data analysis
+ Deliver simple & and complex dashboards using Salesforce.com and Tableau reporting environments
+ Acquire an in-depth understanding of business challenges facing internal customers and develop solutions to overcome those challenges
+ Help our sales colleagues drive our sales organization to be more productive by building and improving key sales tools and train front end users on their effective use increasing the institutional knowledge of the team
+ Play a role in the monthly processing of Sales reports, compensation calculators and payout statements

Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree holder
+ Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a similar business intelligence or data analyst role, preferably serving a Sales or Customer Service teams
+ Basic Knowledge of Databases (MSSQL, Snowflake, .)
+ Basic Knowledge of Data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI.)
+ Strong analytical skills with a naturally curious mind set
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint required
+ Ability to work independently
+ Strong organizational skills to provide timely and consistent support

Job Description

The Data Analyst III role consults with internal stakeholders to understand problems, collect and analyze data to support data driven business decisions. This role uses data tools to collate, model, interpret, develop visualizations/information products, and communicate to the business. Specifically, individuals in this role will execute on projects/initiatives with high complexity independently.
Accountabilities
+ Solid understanding of best practices
+ Executes on projects and initiatives independently
+ Provides support to the analytics team members
+ Begins to lead analytics effort with high complexity
+ Partners with stakeholders to understand their business needs and to make suggestions for analysis and metrics to drive insights and recommendations
+ Understands who the customers are and what is happening in the market with necessary commercial awareness
+ Creates visual displays of data through selected tools and analytical packages
+ Effectively lead and manage small/operational analytics projects
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ 3-5 years of analytics experience
+ Ability to understand complex data structure and to apply advanced blending and refinement techniques including big data and knows how to apply advanced data preparation and refinement techniques
+ Significant experience leveraging SQL for data querrying
+ Experience with different visualizations tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
+ Experience in intermediate statistics
+ Basic knowledge of big data platforms
+ Ability to present complex issues in simple and sophisticated insights
+ Ability to combine visualizations from multiple sources to tell an effective and engaging story
