You will work within the Observability team integrating OpenTelemetry into software applications and help build and maintain Observability Platform as a part of DevOps Tooling and Capabilities. This role will be an important part in steering the future direction of Observability, offering observability as code, in the delivery pipelines, setting the standards and guardrails for all teams and the organisation as a whole, building world class Observability.
Role Responsibilities
Work closely with the Observability and DevOps Engineers to design/build/deploy and maintain an Observability solution to align to the IT strategy/vision and strategic DevOps practices.
Work across application teams in TPICAP to integrate the Observability solution into the delivery pipelines and in the application codebase
Communicate with governance streams to ensure adherence to and development of process, quality and architectural design
Deliver against both Functional and Non-functional requirements.
Take Ownership/Accountability for development of key features and drive to completion.
Communicate effectively on progress and ensure impediments are raised early to minimise impact on the delivery.
Take part in incident management to ensure Production defects are rectified based on their criticality and severity and to a sufficient standard.
Guide and support team in implementation and adherence to Change Control principles
Ensure inter-project dependencies and projects risks are understood and managed
Use technical experience to collaborate with architecture to guide software solutions

Understanding of Observability pillars and knowledge of tools in this area such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch and CloudWatch
Hands on experience in deploying and managing AWS resources
Demonstrate current experience of hands-on Full-Stack Software Engineering using either Java or Microsoft c#, Typescript, JavaScript and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell
Experience of Application Lifecycle Management Tools and technologies such as Source Code Management; git, DevOps platforms; Gitlab, TeamCity, Sonatype Nexus

**Your role and responsibilities**
Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and uptime of systems and applications Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and self-healing systems Perform root cause analysis and implement fixes to eliminate recurring issues Establish and manage SLIs/SLOs/SLAs for key services Respond to incidents and lead postmortems (blameless) Collaborate with DevOps, developers, and infrastructure teams to optimize system design Document runbooks, support guides, and architectural workflows Support disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and failover
**Required technical and professional expertise**
Monitoring & Observability Splunk or Grafana Cloud Platforms AWS Infrastructure as Code Terraform Automation & Scripting Bash or Python or Shell scripting CI/CD Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD Version Control Git, GitLab Containerization Kubernetes, Docker Incident Management ServiceNow or Compass Configuration Management Control-M, Crontab
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
