**What you'll do:**
+ Responsible for the development and execution of customer-centric solutions for NEC markets.
+ Design special customer requests through Engineered to Order (ETO) product designs, providing manufacturing support for the manufacture of ETO designs, and offering technical leadership for ongoing customer inquiries.
+ Independently develop and direct a broad range of product design projects, assuming responsibility for all technical project activities, including high-level product design elements.
+ Communicate across the project team, to their immediate managers, and to external counterparts, e.g. customers or suppliers.
+ Create and maintain project development plans. Create all necessary documentation for manufacture, costing, customer approvals and installation, including but not limited to assembly drawings, schematics, bills of material, etc.
+ Works with customers, Customer Service, Operations, Sourcing and vendors, and Field Sales to meet technical and scheduling requirements, at the lowest cost to the division.
+ Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing components from internal and external sources and with engineered modifications. Creates product specifications based on customer and Marketing requirements
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or a related Engineering field from an accredited institution
+ Minimum of 4 years engineering experience with a preference for ETO design/order execution within a manufacturing environment
+ 2D CAD/3D modeling experience and the ability to develop 2D drawings (mechanical & electrical)ERP & PLM experience
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
+ Ability to work in a virtual environment
+ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeKnowledge and technical expertise in ETO processes and engineering methods.
+ Assumes accountability for scope/projects assigned.
+ Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, to meet quick, market-specified turnaround times.
+ Skills must include design, engineered material selection, design costing, computer assisted drafting (CAD), SAP document management, and strong MS Office Suite knowledge.
+ Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with design of mechanical parts that are manufactured with sandcasting, die casting, metal stamping, sheet metal and other machining processes.
2. Experience working with a manufacturing environment for support of unique/quick turn orders.
3. Strong proficiency in Solidworks 3D and AutoCAD 2D for assembly/part, mechanical drawing and electrical schematic creation
4. Enovia and SAP-PLM/Cideon PLM (Product Life Cycle Management) experience
5. SAP ERP System experience
6. Knowledge of UL/NEMA/NEC Standards, particularly in Power Distribution & Controls (e.g. 50/50E, 508/508A, 1203, 67)
7. Experience with 3rd party certification requirements, particularly for Industrial and Harsh & Hazardous Locations (e.g. UL/CSA/ATEX)
8. Experience with Electrical enclosure design and applications
9. Experience with Industrial controls and circuit protection from various manufacturers
