About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team on a remote basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to support a growing consultancy that specialises in delivering comprehensive quantity surveying and cost management services to a diverse range of clients. The role offers flexible working hours and the chance to work on a variety of projects, including construction, civil, and residential.

What you’ll do

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for construction and civil engineering projects.

• Manage tender processes, including reviewing inquiries, and preparing tender documents, and submitting bids.

• Perform quantity take-offs and prepare Bills of Quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement (e.g., NRM, SMM7, or CESMM).

• Support preparing and submitting Final Accounts

• Help/assist valuing work completed on-site and prepare interim and final accounts (this can be done remotely)

• Help/assist preparing and submitting claims for variations, dayworks, and additional works.

• Help/assist reviewing and negotiating contract terms, identify risks, and provide advice on mitigation strategies.

• Support clients with project cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and financial management.

• Resolve disputes and address queries related to costs and claims.

• Prepare schedules of rates and cost-plus proposals, as required

• Ensure compliance with relevant contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).

• An understanding of NEC & JCT Contracts

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping & Finance

Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks

Handle monthly reconciliations, expense categorization, and invoice management

Track accounts payable/receivable

Prepare reports for leadership review

Project Management Support

Use construction or property management software (e.g., Build-A-Trend) to assist with project updates, timelines, and documentation

Support coordination with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders

Track project budgets and deadlines

Administrative Tasks

Manage email and calendar scheduling across multiple time zones

Coordinate travel arrangements and itineraries

Assist in file organization, SOP creation, and task tracking

Provide light social media support and content scheduling (as needed)

Cross-Business Support

Potentially support light admin/bookkeeping tasks for an additional service-based business

Adapt to shifting priorities between multiple workstreams with professionalism

Qualifications:

Strong QuickBooks knowledge; experience with construction or service industry accounting a plus

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of specialized experience in rebar detailing, with a strong emphasis on 3D BIM modeling.
• Proficiency in rebar detailing software such as Tekla Structures (required) , AutoCAD (with rebar detailing plugins), Revit (with rebar extensions), or similar platforms.
