Summary
The Controller supports DLA’s Operations function by overseeing the firm’s financial reporting, accounting operations, and business support processes. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial management, effective internal controls, and operational efficiency while providing leadership across accounting, billing, payroll, and administrative functions. The position plays a key role in supporting leadership decision-making, financial transparency, and the firm’s continued growth.
Duties & Responsibilitie s·
Oversee financial operations and reporting processes to ensure accurate, timely insights that support leadership decision-making
· Lead month-end, quarterly, and annual close processes to maintain reliable financial statements and operational transparency
· Manage billing, payroll, and revenue cycle activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and smooth business operations
· Develop forecasts, budgets, and financial analyses to guide strategic planning and financial performance improvement
· Evaluate internal controls, financial processes, and operational workflows to strengthen compliance, efficiency, and risk management
· Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance financial performance through automation and continuous improvement
· Supervise and develop accounting and operations team members to foster collaboration and high performance
· Prepare executive-ready reporting packages and ad hoc analyses to support leadership priorities and business initiatives
· Coordinate tax-related financial data and external reporting requirements to ensure compliance and readiness
· Maintain professional standards, integrity, and responsiveness while supporting firm leadership and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications & Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA (Preferred).
· Approximately 7+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or operations leadership experience.
· Strong hands-on experience with financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
· Experience with professional services firm operations, including time/billing and revenue cycle management (Preferred).
· Familiarity with Netsuite, OpenAir, or similar financial/reporting systems (Preferred).
· Knowledge of consolidated financial statements, intercompany transactions, payroll processes, and related compliance requirements.
· Strong Excel and financial systems proficiency with the ability to leverage technology for efficiency and reporting insights.
· Demonstrated leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
· Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment while balancing strategic and hands-on responsibilities.

Qualifications & Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA (Preferred).
· Approximately 7+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or operations leadership experience.
· Strong hands-on experience with financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
· Experience with professional services firm operations, including time/billing and revenue cycle management (Preferred).
· Familiarity with Netsuite, OpenAir, or similar financial/reporting systems (Preferred).
· Knowledge of consolidated financial statements, intercompany transactions, payroll processes, and related compliance requirements.
· Strong Excel and financial systems proficiency with the ability to leverage technology for efficiency and reporting insights.
· Demonstrated leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
· Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment while balancing strategic and hands-on responsibilities.

The Controller supports DLA’s Operations function by overseeing the firm’s financial reporting, accounting operations, and business support processes.
